The Opposite of A Number

Please use your computer's calculator to as we examine the opposite of a number.

Example #1: Writing the Opposite of Five Type 5 on the calculator screen. Press [+/-], the opposite key to write the opposite of five. The result is -5, negative five, the opposite of five.

Example #2: Writing the Opposite of Negative Five Type -5 on the calculator screen by: -- Typing 5 then -- Pressing [+/-] to write -5. Press [+/-], the opposite key to write the opposite of this. The result is 5, five, positive five, the opposite of negative five.

Example #3: Simplify: -(-(-(-(-(-2))))) Do innermost first, according to order of operations. Type 2. Press [+/-] to change this to -2. Press [+/-] 5 more times, once for each negative sign. The result is 2. OR Type 2. Press [+/-] 6 times, once for each negative sign. The result is 2.
