2. Experiment with different kinds of consecutive integers using constants.
1st: Press the "an integer" button or type in an integer using "-x" not "- x" for a negative.
2nd: Press each other button to see the corresponding integer displayed.
CONSECUTIVE INTEGERS

  x - 2 is     x - 1 is     x is     x + 1 is     x + 2 is
CONSECUTIVE ODD INTEGERS

  x - 4 is     x - 2 is     x is     x + 2 is     x + 4 is
CONSECUTIVE EVEN INTEGERS

  x - 4 is     x - 2 is     x is     x + 2 is     x + 4 is

3. Write the code for the expression:
a. the sum of three consecutive integers
b. the sum of three consecutive odd integers
c. the sum of three consecutive even integers
d. The sum of three consecutive even integers is 24.

5. Answers
a. the sum of three consecutive integers --
    (first) + (second) + (third)
    (x) + (x + 1) + (x + 2)
b. the sum of three consecutive odd integers
    (first) + (second) + (third)
    (x) + (x + 2) + (x + 4)
c. the sum of three consecutive even integers
    (first) + (second) + (third)
    (x) + (x + 2) + (x + 4)
d. The sum of three consecutive even integers is 24.
    (first) + (second) + (third) = 24
    (x) + (x + 2) + (x + 4) = 24
        3x + 6     = 24
            - 6       -6
        ------------------------
          3x       = 18
          3x/3     = 18/3
          x       = 6
The integers are 6 (from the x) , 8 (from the x + 2), and 10 (from the x + 4).
