Welcome to Calc I!
Substitution - The Antiderivative of the Chain Rule - Hi,
- This is a VERY powerful and useful
algorithm. procedure.
-
The Chain Rule, section 2.5, pg. 100, was used to take the derivative of a composit
function and yielded "the product of the derivative of the outer function evaluated at the inner function
and the derivative of the inner function."
-
- Now you seek 1st: a derivative, a derivative of the function positioned as the
argument, the object of the "outer" function,
and 2nd: the "outer" function.
