Day26, Possible Results in Solving an Equation
When solving an equation, if you get
  • (variable) = (constant)
    ex. y = -3
    ex. x = 4
    that's the solution.

  • (constant) = (constant)
    ex. 9 = 9
    ex. 9 = 4 + 5
    8 - 1 = 3 + 4
    0 = 0
    all numbers are solutions.

  • (constant) = (different constant)
    ex. 0 = 1
    ex. 4 = 3
    9 = -2
    there are no solutions.

The other number when the sum of two numbers is ...
The other number when the sum of two numbers is ...

Find:
      The other number when x is one number and the sum of the two numbers is 15.
(sum) = 15
(one number) + (other number) = 15
x + (other number) = 	15
-x 				-x
____________________________________
 (other number) =		15 - x
The other number is 15 - x.
